Could it be a Spiraea?

I think you are correct.
I CAME LATE TO THIS GAME, BUT IT'S IN THE BLOOD. I TRY TO BE ORGANIC BUT SORRY HAVE TO USE THE SLUG PELLETS.

Think I might dig it out. found quote in Wikipedia

Invasiveness

Spiraea japonica have become naturalized and occupy habitats similar to those of native spireas. It aggressively invades disturbed areas and forms dense stands that outcompete native species. It often spreads locally when its hardy seeds are transported along watercourses and in fill dirt.[2]
Once established, S. japonica grows quickly and forms dense stands that outcompete much of the existing native herbs and shrubs. The seeds can last for many years in the soil, making its control and the restoration of native vegetation especially difficult. Growing populations will creep into meadows, forest openings, and other sites.

Also a native of Japan, china, korea ect. How did it get here  :nowink:

Probably not the most important plant on your allotment, but it might look okay in your garden, if you've got one. We haven't found them to be particularly invasive.

I don't think it's spirea - they are woody shrubs -  this looks soft stemmed. I'm still with the vetch party. Looking forward to seeing it in bloom to get a better idea.

I recognise this one... goat's rue.

It is usually has pale lilac flowers but there is a white variety.  (Galega officinalis)

Really lovely photo  :)

Well done - I'm really impressed that someone found it as I have never heard of it or seen it before.  Thanks.  I'm not sure where it came from but its interesting to read that it has been a useful medicinal plant.  I think I'll research it a bit more to see if I should keep it.

thanks again

Have been following this thread with interest and good to see you finally found out what your mystery plant is. You might be interested in this link about Goat's Rue though because it is a fairly invasive plant apparently.

Hope it doesn't take over your garden ;-)
