Garlic rotting again
« on: June 27, 2011, 16:50 »
Hi all

I've grown 2 varieties of garlic and lifted a couple yesterday when I saw the tops were dying back - and for the second year they're soft outside and going mushy, though the cloves inside seem OK. Is it the wet weather or should I be leaving them with the mud on until they've had a chance to harden?

Get them out.  They won't be getting any better by leaving them in the ground.

Wash as much soil off as you can and set them out with the root plate pointing to the sun so they dry off and harden up.  Hope you don't lose too much.  Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !
