Funny, I have sampled them many times as a youngster with no ill effect whatsoever, whilst assisting in the picking for Dad's wine making. ::)

Those Hampshire elderberries were the size of blackcurrants sweet and moreish and were all we had to eat , playing Robinson Crusoe or something i seem to recall .
There were four castaways down with the ague later that evening !  :D

I think I must have a strong constitution then. Probably came from that pickling vinegar I used to drink. ;)

Well at least the berries and the flowers are OK to consume, even if a surfeit of berries gives you the gripes  :lol: :lol:

and has anyone else made pea shooters from the sticks  ;)

Cow parsley was easier, with elder you had to poke the pith out.
Never had any peas though, Hawthorn berries were a favourite.
