Got this from realseeds and it's pretty much the only thing that's liking our weather so far this year. Trouble is, I'm not sure how to eat it!  It is just a mass of v big perpetual spinach like leaves, except they have a slightly barbed edge (enough to prick your hand).  So I'm wondering whether to trim the edges from the leaves and eat as you would other kale varieties, Or wait for something else to happen?!  Anyone grown it before?

Do you sow it sooner where you are, because down here it's a winter kale for the 'hungy gap'.

Use the smaller leaves as they are more tender and less prickly. Later when it goes to seed you can eat the flower heads before they open, like PSB shoots. (but you probably already know that  )

Great, thx for that. Yea, I prob planted too early but last year I was too late with the kale. And to be honest all 3 kale varieties are going great guns and are filling the (hitherto unknown) late June hunger gap!   

Didnt know the flowers made good eating.
