Yes or no?  All I've put in so far are fresh broken eggshells and not ones that have been previously boiled...

Yes I put cooked eggshells in my compost, its the only cooked thing I put in. Just make sure they are crushed a bit first, like the uncooked ones and they will rot down eventually. I do end up digging in the odd uncomposted shell, but my garden doesn't seem to mind.

Yes, by all means put them in, as it makes the finished compost good and gritty which slugs don't like. I rinse mine first as rats are a problem in my neck of the woods

We normally just use them dried, crushed and sprinkled directly on the ground around plants as slug barriers.

 I made the mistake of putting large egg shell pieces in the compost that I put in the bottom of the bean trench this year.

The magpies had a field day pulling them out and tossing them around

No problem, adds a bit of ruffage -throw the box into but tear it up first!

Mine go into the compost, or if there is a few of them i bake them and crush them and feed them back to the hens for added calcium.

I do both. either dry some out and crush them to use around certain plants, the rest I simply crush and throw into the compost. They don't really break down in the compost but that's okay - they'll do that in the soil when I've added that compost.
