Hello all i have a 15 day old silver spangled hamburg whose head has twisted around and is sort of upside down. This morning when the other half went to feed them it was fine and i went to the allotment at 2 oclock after work and it was like this.

Also it has been suffering from what i thought to be conjunctivitis for the past week, i have been bathing its eyes with a saline solution and cotton wool balls and it has been clearing it up and until today i thought it was on the mend. This might be urelated but i thought it best to mention.





The chick does drink if i dip her beak in the water, i believe as is she would be unable to drink/feed herself.

Her other 6 siblings are doing fine and show no signs of anything.

I have looked around and the only thing i could find is that it could possibly be crooked neck.

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

I would hazzard a guess at wry neck (perhaps a visit to a vets to verify this). One of the treatments is vitamin E so could you get some of that to start treating it?

Thanks Joyful, i had read up on the various treatments for wry/crooked neck. I have some nutri drops to hand which i gave a drop of around 3oclock i guess i'll get some form of vitamin e capsule or Polyvisol Enfamil tomorrrow and we'll see how it goes.

It really does look like an awful position to be in, if i could fashion a neck brace it would be able to function and stand as normal for now.

This morning the chick was completely lifeless with the exception of very shallow breathing and a faint heartbeat.

I have managed to feed it some chick crumb and i gave it a drink with a pipet. The nutridrops i mentioned in the previous post contain vitamin e so i gave it some more this morning.
