Hi,I'm looking after a few raised beds at the local preschool and the runner beans they put in were very leggy and then got badly scorched.My question is,if the 'lead' stem is damaged beyond repair but new leaves are coming,will the beans start a new lead shoot?or are they done for and will stay at a few inches high?

I deliberately took out the lead tip of my climbing beans and the plants are resprouting from the joins between the leaf stem and main stem.

Mine got munched by bunnies or deer, but since they have been netted have come back extremely well.
