Hey. I've got 28 birds (chickens and ducks) and buying the flubenvet 1% stuff from the local farmers coop is just a tad expensive... I was just looking at some internet suppliers and found the 2.5% stuff, the instructions sound very confusing and I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice? Is it as difficult as it sounds or is it just a case of mixing it into the feed as usual? And also can you give ducks the flubentvet? I've only been giving them verm-x.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

i thought the same so bought the 2.5 stuff too
you need to use a 1/4 tsp per kilo , so 1 tea spoon per 4 kilo of feed and its probably best to use a measuring spoon so its flat
just mix it up as you normally would ,i tried doing it by oiling the pellets first but decided to just mix it dry and make a mash as the chickens seem to prefer it

I agree withyou about the prices, the vets charged us £20 for 60g of the 1% I think it was, then the other day I bought 240g of the 2.5% online for £33

As we have a lot of chickens, I mix it with a 20kgs bag, but I always worry that it hasn't mixed properly, so I may do the teaspoon in 4kgs like toasted said!

This is what I do with Flubenvet 2.5


I weigh out 12g of Fubenvet per 10kg of layers pellets, so 24g of Flubenvet per 20kg bag of layers pellets. I use a small pocket digital scale and a little plastic beaker or yoghurt pot, not forgetting to set the scale to 0 before weighing the Flibenvet.

1. Mix some cod liver oil with the weighed out Flubenvet.

2. Mix the above with a good scoop of layers pellets and stir well.

3. Keep adding more and more layers pellets mixing well between each addition.

4. Mix and add until your whole amount of layers pellets are incorporated.

5. Feed this and only this until you have been feeding for 7 full days on an add lib basis. Then return to usual feeding regime.

6. Mix up more if needed.

7. Big birds will eat more than small birds and so will get the right amount of Flubenvet for their individual needs. Don't get hung up on who gets what amount.

We've only had hens for two years, and a few months ago tried the impregnated pellets with 2 of our neighbours (shared a bag), we found it a little more expensive but so much easier.  Good luck

How do you know when a chicken has worms?
How often do they need worming and from what age?

you are best worming them every 3-4 months even if they show no signs of worms.
