I planted a new loganberry last autumn (pot grown) and it's healthy enough and growing well against a wall, but no sign of any flowers this year. How long will it be before I can expect fruit from it?

they're like blackberries in that they fruit on last year's canes - so don't make the mistake I did when we first had them and trim them hard back in autumn! If you planted last autumn the canes that have grown this year should fruit next year. I use the fan method, spreading out the year-old canes into a fan and tying this year's canes up the middle - then in autumn cut the old canes out and fan the new ones...

Oh, thanks, that's really helpful. I'll try that. At the moment it's just a sort of clump of stems, just starting to really go upward, so they'll take a bit of sorting out. And I stupidly planted the tall broad beans in the raised bed right in front of them, so they're not that easy to get to either. I have got wires on the wall behind them though, so at least the framework is there already.
