Frost Watch
« on: March 15, 2011, 13:24 »
Came across this today:

http://www.organiclinker.com/frost/

A tool to alert growers to the risk of frost. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?  ???
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

I was multitasking as usual- reading posts on here whilst half listening to the BBC news, then the weather came on without me really realizing until I heard the forecaster utter the dreaded word "frost".

So I had to rewind the Sky+ to watch it properly," cooler temperatures this weekend with night frosts returning".

Just a bit different from tonight, weather station in the garden saying 11.7 centigrade at 10.45 PM.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Looks interesting but, as someone has said, the weather forecast on tv does the job for me and BBC interactive weather maps if I miss the news.  ;)

I'm not always in when the weather is on the TV and so miss it, or forget to look it up. I was just looking for a shortcut  :)

You sound like me - rather than the more organised lot that remember to watch the forecast - even for the once-in-a-blue-moon frost in June

I keep a very close watch on the frost as I have to set the greenhouse up before I leave for home each evening. Presently full of new geraniums.  ;)

Quite a heavy ground frost this morning at 5.30 - came as a surprise as I did not hear anything about on the news.

No serious damage I hope?

Not that I could see Learner - but it will not have been good for the courgettes and sweetcorn which had survived the gales of last week.

Must have been quite cold last night here as well.
A few plants on the lowest allotment, were nipped overnight

I'm glad my plots up the top of the slope  ::)

Very disheartening.... after all the work and effort to say nothing of the false start to "summer" when it was so warm.

Add to this no rain in many parts - it is a wonder anything is actually "growing".

Many of my plants are just sitting there waiting.

BBC said to-day that there could be frost in some parts of Northern Ireland overnight - is it really going to be mid-summers day soon.  :(
