The high winds over the last couple of days ripped the covering off my pumpkin plants and shredded them.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a fast maturing pumpkin of reasonable size (big enough to make a good lantern) that I might try? I live in the north east, so the pumpkin growing season is a bit shorter than most; I think I've got about 90 days from the start of June.

I've never grown it so can't say for sure, but Racer F1 is supposed to be an early maturing variety

Are your plants not salvageable?  Maybe a bit of TLC and they may recover - might be better than trying to start from scratch if they already have a root system.  I've had badly damaged plants recover on me

Thanks for the idea.

All three plants have broken along the main runner, around 18 inches from the roots. Not all the way through, but enough that I'm expecting to the growing tips. I'll keep them in in the hope they survive, but want to plant some more as a backup.
