Sickly looking tomato plants
« on: May 10, 2011, 09:35 »
Over the course of the last few days I've noticed brown patches appearing on the leaves of my tomato plants.  Since moving them into the cold frame we've had some very cold and wet weather so I left the top down.  Can anyone offer advice please as to if it's the change in temperature or disease and if they're worth trying to save?  Many thanks.

Pauline

Looks a bit like sun scald to me - where the sun's rays are magnified by water droplets.

When watering try not to get any on the leaves, but it could be condensation.

They'll grow through it.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thank you very much DD for your prompt reply.  Condensation does build up before I usually open the lid and I'm guilty of watering from the top too.  The weather is improving from today onwards so I'll plant them out and water around them.  It's a relief to know not all is lost.  Thanks again, I don't know what I'd do without this site  :).
