cucumbers
« on: May 07, 2011, 21:41 »
Greetings all,
last year we grew some  outdoor cuc's on our plot..(marketmore)....I just let them ramble amongst the squashes and they were brilliant.
Just wondered whether they would climb?....if I put up some netting would they grow up it?,would make it easier picking and save ground space as well 8)

They will climb if you guide them up the support lines. I plant cukes at my munty bean frame and they do very nicely.

I stuck a couple of growbags full of cucumber on the ground near my espalier cherry tree last year, and the next time I looked they'd leapt up the cherry tree and smothered it :)
