Hoping someone can throw some light on this please. My parents have two rescue hens (last July) not that old. They were laying perfectly then one of them laid something that initially looked like a sopft shell egg, although a small one, but when I opened it up it had pink fleshy stuff inside and she has not laid since.  She seems healthy but I wonder if this was some anatomical bit she has "passed".

Any suggestions please?

This is what is known as a lash - it is part of her reproductive tract so she will not lay anymore
