I think the December cold struck before they had a chance to die back down properly as they should.

I lost more plants this winter, when the winter before was colder for a longer period I think  :unsure: very strange  :blink:

A lot of plants can withstand prolonged cold.  But they can't deal with prolonged cold / wet.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I had a hardy outdoor fushia - dark purple and  pink.  I had a dicentra spectablis next to it, and it never really shooted until the spectablis was in flower, the fuschia then took over.  It was always quite late to shoot, so hopefully you have not lost them!
I woud love some fuschia's here - must go and look!

That seems right Mumofstig. It did hit several old chums before we had a chance to get them covered and safe.
