Hi Helen
It certainly is amazing how they know instintively what to do.
I am amazed how the egg hatched on day 21, how she stayed in the nestbox with the chick for the first 24 - 48hrs and then this morning brought it out to teach it to eat and hopefully drink.  :D
She was such a determined broody its nice to see that she is carrying it on (so far)

I love it when the mother hen bok boks at little chicky and taps the ground. Just like what the cockerel does in fact to attract the girls attention. They are such good mummies.

she should show it how to drink but if she appears not, just dip its beak in the water & it will learn where the water is from there. She looks like a good mum. She'll soon screetch at it, to tell it what to do & give little coo's.

Nothing better than to hear that chirping and see new life being born!   We had a chick hatch two weeks ago and were thrilled to think we had a pure Wellsummer baby but it has now developed feathery feet and I now know that our Pekin Bantam Cock has somehow done the deed.  Now we have to see how it grows up a Bantam/Wellsummer cross not quite what I had intended!!!!

Love your Wyandotte bantam she is truly beautiful!
