Hi all,  I have a raised bed with strawbs in.  i have been trying to staple a sheet of polythene over it with little success (too thin and ripped as soon as we had some rain.)

Before invetigating other options (glass, conservatory roofing etc) just a quick question to check that is will be usefull?

I rember me dad using paines of glass on his strawberries about 30 years ago!

Will it improve the quantity/quality of the strawbs or would netting be as good (to keep pidgeons out)?

Thanks guys.

You don't need to cover with poly or glass unless you are trying to grow early ones.

If you don't cover with glass then yes, you have to net them against birds.

Ok thanks for the reply MOS, that makes things a little easier.  Should probably have asked before spending best part of £20 on poly sheeting!
