Last year I was given some gooseberry bush cuttings. I planted them and got a very modest crop from 5 small plants. The bushes then got attacked by something I have been told would be saw fly catepillar? The leaves were stripped on a couple of my bushes.

This year the bushes are just starting to show leaves and look twice the size they were when I was given them so I am hopeing for a better crop. My question is - what to do to avoid the things that stripped the bushes. Can anyone recommend a spray I can get and when do I need to use it?
