hi people i have just been given a large hen house i currently have 5 pekin bantams 4 hens plus a cock my question i would love to have more but would i have to keep to same breed? cheers bailz

Hi and welcome.  My experience as a child was that the cock would just mate with everything and we had lovely mixed up hens... Don't have a cockerel now, with my four girls because of the noise nuisance to the neighbours,(but I'd love to have one and then some chicks  :tongue2:).

The mods will help you sort it out...

we have bantams and Large Fowl running in the same pen and not had a problem just make sure they have places to hide in case they get a little mean with one another to help them intergrade you can keep a smaller run in the main run for a few weeks.

We have 2 bantams, not sure of breed with our Sablepoots and they're fine  :D

all of mine free range together and the little ones - poots and barbu d'anvers - are fine  :D

I have a selection of large fowl and bantams and they all get on fine.  There are separate coops at night and they tend to split off, but that is due to the fact the bantams came later and usually sleep together.  The big RIR sleeps with the bantams though.
