OK,i'll try to be as brief as i can.

We are erecting 14ft x 30ft polytunnel on a slope. Left side has been dug away to level the space.

Right side only the trench to bury poly needed to be dug.

On the left side the back needed to be dug 1ft to get to level (no Problem) but as you move along the side to the front the slope increased and 2and half feet needed to be dug away to be level.

Foundation posts, hoops are all in and level.

So now we are left with a very large trench (needed to be big enough to get into dig the poly trench and put the poly in and backfill.

I hope your with me so far.....

My main query is, as i am not bothered about the interior being level, can I  put back the soil into the very deep trench as well as into the interior basically leaving the front left corner of the tunnel sunk a couple of feet into the ground. The soil level would come up over the foundation posts.

I know i would  loose height inside, but i'm short! This corner is where i plan to have my staging.

Any advice would be very gratefully received.
Liv.

Hi,
I'm not certain what advice you need, but maybe you could install a raised bed on the high side of the polytunnel, using timber shuttering, don't use railway sleepers, they will leak poison into the ground. Also as your Polytunnel is 14 foot wide I would suggest you install 2 internal paths with a wider central bed, so you can gain easier access, unless you need all the space?
Once you're put the ploythene in the trench and you're happy (skin your Polytunnel on a sunny day) and back filled the trench, use a fork to pierce the polythene underground to allow water to drain away.

I can't see any reason for you not to bury it deeper on one side than the other, surely it will just anchor it very well :)
