18 eggs a day - and thats just from those who lay in the nest boxes I have to keep hunting for those that lay away (found a pile of 18 araucana eggs the other week but she has now started laying elsewhere since that stack was discovered  ::)).
Staffies are softer than you think.

5 out of 6 laying, just the wyandotte that is resisting, the hybrids have been laying all winter.

they have however decided that the bag of hemcore in the shed is better than the hemcore in the nest boxes, and that they still all want the same bag, nest boxes are only used when they are enclosed in the run.

I just wish the Plymouth Rocks(Bantams) would do it quietly, 2 of them are going for it as we speak ...they have to march in and out of the shed , walk around the  run , in out ...yell squark ....finaly maybe you get an egg...

Just about a week and i can go choose some more girlies....not bantams i hasten to add..

Funny you say that as half my ladies are bantam and not loud and the other are Large fowl and my blue orpington makes the most noise of them all then i would have to say my little myna bird (gold lace Poland) love to imitate the sound of them laying.

I currently have three girls, who are currently working to rule.

Up to the the start of December they laid an egg a day a chicken then had a wobble to recover solid production by Christmas. Now the days are getting longer at least one won't lay, but never the same one two days running. The eggs they do lay are nice and juicy, though, and the yolks have gone back to a deep orangy yellow.

Of course they haven't let it affect their appetites or the Escape Committee activities.

I have 6 girls not pure breeds was at point of lay when bought them may time last year, apart from a few ago when they stopped laying altogether they now lay every day but sometimes its 5 a day then 6 a day on a cycle then all of a sudden I get 6 for 3 days on the trot.  :)
two thing you should never worry about, yesterday and tomorrow.
