This thread is a very good reason why you should first read the final height of your peas before you buy them. 

I love petit pois (variety name totally espcaes me) and the plant grows only 1-1/2 ft tall. Taller varieties grow to 4-5 ft on average, and then there are climbing pea varieties that go to 8 ft. Even when I provide netting for them, the little terrors refuse to climb by themselves so every few days I must go push them through the netting. This year I'm stringing them!
