Armillatox
« on: February 21, 2011, 18:19 »
Hi all, new member here, although I've been lurking plenty. I made a bit of a mistake
under duress at the allotment today (rain starting, light fading, getting cold, you know how it is) and wondered if anyone could offer any advice.

I'm using Armillatox (for the first time) to try to combat white rot, but I totally miscalculated the amount to apply, and overdid a little. Well, about 7 times too much...

:(  Anyone know what effect this might have? Can I still plant in three weeks time?

Thanks for any insight.

Nome

Armillatox is used to prevent clubroot in my area and I've known people to plant almost straight after use! Thats not the way I'd go about things, but after the three week gap you are talking of,even an overdose of the stuff shouldn't cause a problem. I would be more confident if we have a few downpours before the three weeks is up,just to weaken the solution a little more.
people talk rubbish

But please remember every one that as Armillatox is not licenced in this country as a soil treatment these forums can in no way endorse its use for such.

Just telling you how it is Iggy.  Not licenced for soil, just for cleaning hard surfaces.

Ahh,now I'm with you. Some of the older guys down here also use Jeyes Fluid to prevent clubroot! Again,a product probably being used for something other than its original use.

Plenty of people in this country still use it to combat garden problems, and that's what it's sold for in the states.

Anyone else know anything?

I know some people think this is all EC nonsense, but Armillatox contains coal tar extracts which are now known to pose a significant cancer risk.  That's why it has been withdrawn for use as a soil treatment and is now only licenced as a hard surface cleaner.

I've said this before on other threads but if you are caught using products for off label uses and risking the water table, the Environment Agency will be less than impressed with you.  Personally I would rather not eat veg grown in soil drenched in coal tar extract but that's my own personal preference.

I originally purchased Armillatox to get rid of Honey Fungus. It worked! Then was told not allowed to use as such!

I am quite getting fed up with EU regulations
It all depends what you put into the ground, to what you get out
