I used to own a part husky and while he was the most loving creature he wore us out in the 3 months he was with us before he ran out into the road and was killed by a car.

My friend had a husky for about 8 months before she admitted defeat and gave him back to his breeder.

She was mad for getting a husky in the first place (imho), but she did try her best, and he only went back really, because she had a three month secondment to India and she didn't want to kennel him for that long.

One of my friends also had a part husky and had the same problem; they're born to run, and I mean, run - for miles. They're not a house or city dog by any stretch of imagination and unless you have a farm or huge property, they're not the dog to have. And by their nature, they're not always the best dog to keep around children.

A man two doors along from me has one, cracking looking dog, never off the lead, i gave him some rope about 10metres long so he could let it run abit more, My brother got one, years ago but had to give it back to the breeder because .. huskys have two types of fur on there body, there normal dogs fur but also a really fine under fur very like a cats, which plays bother with peopel with allergies (like my brothers gf ) so sadly byebye husky

Unfortunately I know someone who has just got a husky because his kid wanted one, but of course the kid doesn't want to excercise it or look after it at all really. They have only had it three weeks and now the other kid is getting a............................rhodesian ridgeback!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable! i can see disaster coming on. The father works with tigers and such, which are easier to look after....they are behind bars!

Can't wait for an update!

I know quite a few people who keep Huskies and one also breeds them.  None of the dogs live inside and most are trained to pull sleds.

As for those nincompoops, I'm with Yorkie

i don't own one myself but my best friend does, he's now 11 years old and absolutely wonderful!!! its true he takes alot of walking but makes such a fantastic pet as he's brilliant with people especially kids and extremely loving!!! luckily my friend lives opposite a massive beach so the husky can just run for miles and he's known very well in the village so no risk of him being stolen. they're alot of hard work but as with all dogs very worth wile having xx

My neighbour took on a husky as a 'rescue' dog just before Christmas.  A friend of his was keeping the poor animal in her apartment in the city!

This dog is severely under weight and not a happy-looking animal.  He paces up and down the fence line all day and when I talk to him through the fence he droops his head down until his nose is near the ground and looks up at me from under his eyelids.  It's a stance that I find quite disturbing and I have not entered the neighbour's property since this dog has been living there.

The neighbour's flatmates have been trying to persuade him to get rid of the dog and just in the last few days I haven't seen him around any more (the dog I mean) so he may have gone.  Poor thing.

I know a husky pup is very cute and fluffy, but I am stunned that someone would think it was a good dog to keep permanently indoors in a small apartment.  I'm also amazed at a breeder or even a pet shop that would sell a pup to someone in those circumstances.

Unfortunately breeders and petshops dont give a toss as long as you pay. I think having them is very cruel when you see how distressed they are in the summer. Its not a natural environment for them. There are 4 in my village alone. They seem to be THE dog to be seen with.  >:(
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

hi - yes we do - part husky part german shephard - best dog we've ever had - though we have to put the'walk' time in twice a day - but any big dog needs exercise!!
Great temperment and extremely loving towards everyone especially small people! But you do have to be strong minded with them as they are working dogs after all - why do you ask?
