Savbo......agree totally..... :)

learner....none taken :D.....I fully admit I'm a bit heavy handed with it,but then when I get into digging mode I really go for it,and feel there must be a fork which can take it out there somewhere!......I prefer a fork to a spade for a lot of the digging work...by the way,the bulldog hasnt broken yet,it just felt like it was about to ......I think I will give the handle a real drenching of linseed oil,try and get it soaked into the shaft as per Savbo's suggestion......As for where in Sussex....High Weald...heavy clay...VERY heavy at the moment :tongue2:

How about a Fiskars/Wilkinson Sword Power Digging Fork..we use them at work.  Forged steel head...not welded... with a tube shaft with a plastic sleeve cover.

I think they are done in two shaft lengths and possible 2 head sizes too.??

The last one we got was from a local B&Q so they can be seen rather than chanced online.

I had the wilkinson power fork, no problem with shaft but I managed to snap off two prongs!

it does help if you dont allow the wodden handle to dry out,
oil the shaft or dip it in your water butt when youv'e done for the day
a moist shaft will give more than a dry shaft that will just snap.
dont permissum dandelions frendo vos down.

If it cant be pulled by hand,
1; its not ready
2; use a landrover...
