I'm with digalotty - straight into the ground with the taters, they catch up with overwintered in any case - although I do chit them first to make them less attractive to mice.

I start mine off in thhe greenhouse and transplant outside when say 3" tall. Even if they die back with the cold going black at soil level I leave them in and often they send up several really strong shoots so you get a much stronger plant with earlier beans.
