What time is it Mr. Wolf?
« on: January 27, 2011, 15:43 »
Cleaned out the main hen house this Sunday and asked my husband to put the big (heavy) bags into the wheelbarrow after lunch. He went down to the field and walked towards the bags of manure. All the hens followed at a safe distance as he doesn't go down there often and they weren't totally sure of him. (thinks) Will he feed us...maybe? He stopped and turned round quickly. The hens stopped in their tracks. He did this three times...it looked just like a game of What's the time Mr. Wolf? My husband came back to the house grinning from ear to ear.

Mine are on the plot, one of the girls, daisey the oldest of them was following me everywhere I went, I pretended to bury something, she watched then soon as I stood up, off she went scratching like mad to see what it was I had buried. these are funny criters for sure.

Mine have been allowed to roam the whole garden for the past week so i walk around doing a hidden egg check twice a day. Everytime i reach the bottom of the garden and turn around there are a line of chooks behind me...it's like a modern day Pied Piper

Mine wait in the corner when they hear the allotment gate and always seem pleased to see me or the margarine tub I have with me.

Mine go mental when they hear me coming in, jump up on the hen house and scream in the kitchen window but if someone they dont know comes in the back gate they run and hide.  Window cleaner thought we had got rid of them because he has never seen them.  :D

Mine enjoy the "lets creep up behind her to see if we can escape before she gets the gate shut" game. We forgot to warn the friend who looked after them when we were on holiday last year and he had good fun trying to round them up again.  ::) ::)
