Egg Breaker
« on: January 22, 2011, 17:00 »
When cleaning out the girls litter tray i noticed some broken egg shell, as the litter is wood shavings i could not tell if the egg was layed while on the perch and broke and since eaten or if one of my girls has taken a liking to eggs.

Any advice ?

it can happen, however just keep an eye to see if you have this happen again. Do you give your hens access to oyster shell which helps them to produce stronger shells?
Staffies are softer than you think.

if they are anything like mine they will leave the whole eggs as long as you leave them there for but if one is broken (usually by me) they its a free for all and they go nuts and eat the lot!
