I'm moving and have just signed up for an allotment.  Although I've grown veg and fruit my whole adult life in the States, I am clueless what to plant in East Anglia on an allotment plot.  I won't have the allotment until the end of April or early May.  Any suggestions?

You are clueless what to plant.............then can you think about what you would like to grow?
Tell us what you would like to eat, and we will tell you if it is possible to grow in the UK and maybe even the right way to do it

Quite a lot of people with new allotments asking questions here are starting with a allotment is completely overgrown.  Hopefully that won't be the case for you (and you already know the state of the plot, just can't get on it yet?)

I'm curious to know how things will be different for you compared to USA.  My (very limited!) understanding of USA veg growing is that timing of sowing is based on weeks-before-last-frost, and indeed again for Summer & Autumn plantings weeks-before-first-frost.

I suppose a long way up North that might be an issue in the UK too, but mostly we go with "Risk it and hope we don;t get caught out by a late frost" and I can't think of much / anything we grow where we worry about the First frost of the Autumn
