Hen with Spur ??
« on: January 02, 2011, 16:09 »
Happy New Year All

One of my girls Tia a blackrock has grown a spur on her right leg !!
Is this common ?? She is the lead hen but thought it a little strange

Maybe she's having gender issues  perhaps she will grow a beard to match

My question then is this normal?? she's 18months old incase you were wondering

don't worry hens can sometimes grow spurs as well  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

My lovely (though a bit dim) hen Emily has a 2 inch spur on each leg.  She lays delicious eggs though :)

Some of my ex batts have grown spurs.  Just need to watch their leg rings don't irritate.
