Injured Hen
« on: July 28, 2007, 19:37 »
Need a bit of hen health advice.

Ruby, one of my chickens appears to have had her comb damaged by one of the other hens (injury suspiciously like the shape of a beak). The injury has obviously bled but has now scabbed - no obvious signs of infection and Ruby seems on good form. She also seems to be getting on with Gerty and Penny so it was probably just one of them in a bad mood.

My question is should i put any antiseptic cream on the wound - like sudo cream ? What are peoples thoughts???

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Nathan

If it is scabbed leave it alone.  Keep an eye on her and if it apears that it has been pecked again seperate her (but keep in sight of the others) until it has healed.
