The battery meat industry alone is enugh for me to avoid BFB and poultry pellets

I don't imagine for one minute that the intensive and battery farming conglomerates would bat an eyelid if we stopped buying BFB and pelleted manure. They'd just bung the stuff in landfill like they used to.

Can someone please explain what contaminated manure is. I have agreement to take manure from a local stables but don't want to get caught out if it is detremental to the plot.

NickM, some grassland has been and still could be being sprayed with a selective herbicide called aminopyralid, which persists in the grass or hay, and hence into animal manures. It still has sufficient potency to damage many crops grown using it.

If you can gain complete assurance from the stables that it has not been used on any of their feedstuffs then there is no problem.

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

And it makes a difference to me. And as that's what I am in charge of on this planet, that's what I'll do.

I collect horse poo from a stables down the road.
I collect Seaweed from the shore.
I use my chickens poo.
I use comfrey leaves too.
I compost all house hold vegetable matter along with grass cuttings from my field.
I’m due to get some meat rabbits soon so their poo will go on the land too!

I don’t use chemical fertilizers as for me the results speak for themselves. Also I don’t bother digging in……I let the worms earn their keep.  :)
