Chicken Poo - our favorite subject!!
« on: November 21, 2010, 09:07 »
Hi - needs some advice!
We have lost quite a few of our ex-batts recently and now have one left and 2 leghorns, the remaining ex-batt has shown no signs of any of the problems the others had but in the last week she has been laying intestinal poo's daily which also look a pale brown colour - not mustardy darker than that!
Her come has shrunk a bit and become less red recently but no purple tinges or anything and apart from being slow to emerge in the mornings she seems ok - eating and drinking and cratching around and her posture is normal. One ot the newer girls does push her around a bit but nothing heavy.
Any idea's would be greatfully recieved

sounds ok to me - her comb will shrink if she isn't laying (2 off mine dont lay and they have paler smaller combs), their poohs can aslo come in loads of colours and consistencies and as your girls seem to be eating, drinking and going about their daily business then I don't think you have too much to worry about. Just keep up being observant to see if this changes.
Staffies are softer than you think.

funny you should say that as she hasn't laid for about 2 weeks! she only came out of the battery farm in june though so i didn't expect her to go off lay so quickly, our last batch didn't.
