Hi all,

I want to move my EGLU from the bottom of the garden to bring it closer to the house for the winter.

My girls only sleep in there really as they roam free all day.

Question is if I move the EGLU should I confine them for a while until they get used to the new location or will they just relocate themselves naturally?

You could do that or they'll head back to the bottom of the garden to go to bed. Keep your eye on them and I'd put them in the Eglu run before it gets dark. You don't want it to suddenly drop dark and then have to go out hen hunting 

Beef up your fox measures, they are at risk if they're free ranging all day, especially in winter as food gets more scarce

My hens free range in a good sized field at the bottom of my garden and the hen house is on wheels. My husband often moves it unasked and un noticed by me (so the grass doesn't die underneath) and  the hens are just fine and go to bed in the usual way.

I would say leave it until a Sunday moving to move it and make sure the girls can see you moving it and they will be fine but if there is a problem you are then around to help any stragglers.
