For those who haven't seen the post it covers building a simple mains powered unit which costs a fraction of a Vsb automatic door device.  Lots of photos show the detail and full sourcing information is given for all the major parts.

I've one more post to do covering some options and variants on the design for those with houses which aren't like Forsham Lenhams.  Also a simple automatic door lock to more positively bolt the door shut.  Otherwise it's complete.
