hi all, b&q are selling cauliflower seedlings is it too late to plant these now, they also have leeks not sure about them either?

Do you know what variety the caulis are?  Over winter ones need to be hardy, others could be nursed over winter in a cold frame or cold greenhouse. In my opinion, you may just as well wait until next year and sow for yourself - a lot cheaper.

It's very late for leeks. They'll make little growth and then just sit there looking at you when you want to be harvesting them. Come the spring, they run away & go to seed.

Sounds like a big store on the make again.

im not sure what ones they were, but i'm glad i didnt buy them.  its not fair that they do this, as the "new to growing" people, like me,  can waste alot of time and money.
think ill just wait till spring.

I have ordered (and received) a Spring Greens Plant Collection from DT Browns, which consists of spring cabbage, cauliflowers, calabrese and purple sprouting broccoli...
Does this mean I've wasted my money too

Not necessarily. it depends on the variety, as I said, but I am a little suprised to see calabrese & PSP on there, but there again I only grow the early summer planted sort.

Well the varieties are as follows DD:

Sprouting Broccoli Claret F1
Cabbage Excel F1
Cauliflower Walcharen Winter 3 - Armado April
Calabrese Aquiles

Am worried now if I plant them out they won't survive the winter and I'll have wasted my money...

I grow 1 and 3

Brocolli is in around June/July time, winter caulis August.
