Whats your Favourite?
« on: September 21, 2010, 08:14 »
As a newbie starting to plan next years plot I dont have any of these yet but was wondering...

Whats your favourite varieties of fruit and vegetables?
What does well for you and what you steer clear of?

Thanks

Fruit - Strawberries, they produce loads of fruit for little looking after.
Veg - Peas and beans, loads of harvest from not many plants, continuous picking all the way through summer :D

Also courgettes produce more courgettes than a family could need, in most cases you end up giving some away :D

That's a difficult one  ::)
The few I wouldn't be without, and now grow every year are,
Black Cherry tomatoes
Minicole small autumn cabbage,
White Lady runner beans,
Thelma Sanders winter squash,
Sugar Ann snap peas
and Charlotte potatoes.
All the other crops get changed as something catches my eye in the catalogues

Wannagrowveg wants to know the actual varieties you grow I think!

Cucumber and tomatoes  - can be hard to grow but the taste is wonderful, shop bought does not compare.

Peas - straight from the pod to the mouth - even better than chocolate.   ;)
