Well done boosh  :)  Making your own preserves is really satisfying and glad you have got the bug.

Val has put my Sweet Green Pickle recipe on the recipe page if you have lots of green tomatoes this year.  It's another thing to use them up as well as the chutney and is very yummy  :) It's a new thing for me this year and I am very happy with the results. Would recommend it to you and MOS.

I must admit made it early this year as the toms i grew did turn out to be bush type and just took over the ground where they were planted to the point where they just became a mess as i did not allow enough room between plants, next year pots.

Is it bad that I'm actually hoping for a few green toms at the end of the growing season so I can make this?  Have so far resisted picking unripe ones as they are still turning red at the moment!

I've been spinning out the final dregs of the ultimate jar of last year's brew of the Val Green Tom chutney.  An absolutely exceptionally good recipe, it do be being.

Deffo another brew this year too!

I made some green tomato chutney this year cos of blight, even though I don't like it much. Added a bit of fresh ginger and garlic and two whole chillis which I fished out as I like the flavour but not the heat.

It's delicious! We had the dregs that wouldn't fit in the jar....two weeks old only......with a ploughman's lunch. Sorry I didn't make more now. :)

Having harvested over 10lb of green tomatoes (  ), I've made the green tomato chutney recipe from Val's book this evening with 6lb of them.

It took literally hours to boil down but has now made 10 jars of chutney (varying sizes).  I think I'll use fewer chillies next time as it tastes a bit too 'hot' for my preferences, but I'm sure it will get eaten nevertheless!!

Tomorrow it's green tomato jam from the same book
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I made some of this yesterday (9 jars worth!) and had a bit left over which has gone into a tub in the fridge for eating with some soft cheese on crackers tonight.  It's absolutely lush and makes getting green tomatoes at the end of the growing season worthwhile!
