  :?: I want to use some space freed up from the potato patch.

Is there a nice type of green lettuce I could plant now :?:

You can still plant ...
... any lettuce that takes your fancy!

I like to have a variety of leaves so I can pick a bag of mixed salad.  But for green stuff I like baby spinach leaves, rocket, lollo bionda and salad bowl

If you want to pick a green lettuce you could try butterhead fatima (kinda bolt resistant) or romaine if you don't want the little gem or webbs wonderful.

You can also plant things like pak choi which are good in salads when the leaves are young.  I planted them this year for the first time and they're off like a ... well ... rocket ...

Don't forget you can harvest things like the leaves of beetroot for extra variety in the salad department ...  :D

Yes I use pak choi as a green vegetable, lightly steamed its gorgeous and really quick and easy to grow.
