Post Prolapse ...questions...
« on: July 31, 2010, 16:19 »
I had a chicken with a prolapse last week...she was happy in herself so I isolated her, washed her tried to put it back in but would not stay and was infected. I took her to the vet who said it was not a bad one and the thing to do was antibiotics and isolation so that the others would not peck. She reinserted the prolapse but it did not stay in. I did this once more and it came out. Fearing the worst I wondered if we should keep her ...this morning the vent is back to normal, no straining and she is running around like the 18 month old she is...My question is will she be able to lay again or does she run the risk of it coming out again ....???

sadly yes she does run the risk of it happening again - best just keep an eye on her.
Staffies are softer than you think.
