Savoy Cabbage
« on: July 30, 2010, 22:00 »
I have two 'Ormskirk 2' savoy cabbages that are now ready for picking, the heads are about the same size as a football. The cabbage itself is perfect and i wanted to show it at our local county show. The show is in 6 weeks time, so i was wondering.. how best to keep these cabbages in the same condition? or is it even possible to try and keep it show ready for another 6 weeks? If i leave them in though, will it go OTT and to seed?
Thanks :)

Savoys usually stand well all winter so won't go to seed. More of a danger is splitting, so go carefully with the water. :D

I have 4 the size of pumpkins right now thanks to all our rain and I'm afraid they'll split so must start eating them soon.
