ROOSTER POTATOES
« on: July 27, 2010, 19:55 »
Hello everyone !
My query is a simple one, and I  don't wish to start a storm of arguments, but it has to do with the popular RED ROOSTER potato  -  personally, I love 'em !  However, my late mother, God rest her, couldn't eat more than one or two mouthfuls of rooster potato (mashed / fried / boiled etc..) before she would have a bout of vomitting or severe stomach cramp.
I thought she was the only one, but a couple of years ago, my partner (now my wife) was gettng quite sick, when she ate roosters. She loves spuds, but gets a violent reaction to this variety, which we identified by a careful process of elimination.
As I've said, I don't want to alarm rooster growers, as I think they are a great product, but has anyone else had this experience with ROOSTER potatoes . . . ?
Thanks to anyone who can throw some light on this topic.
Tom
