Getting a couple of cockerel boxes made today. 2 Layers of ply with sound proofing in between plus plenty of air holes low down.

Any suggestions on size? Just enough to be confortable but stop the boys stretching to much so they are discouraged from crowing till let out.

At the moment it's for Bantam Wyandottes but could also be LF Marans and Bantam Marans.

the air holes should be above head height - to stop them getting sat in a draught.

Mine could still crow when sat down in a large cat box (2' x 1.5' x 1.5').

The ventilation needs to be above head height to prevent draughts

Hi both - thanks for that - the box will be inside the coop anyway.  Other people have suggested air holes low to keep daylight down.  I guess it depends how big they are.
