last week we had lots of gooseberries on the new plants on the allotment, within 4 days they have all gone, every single one, i dont think they would be ready to eat, and they looked to be too big for the birds, so where have they all gone ?.

I was told in the farm shop the other day that they were now out of season. Shouldn't make a difference to where yours have disappeared to though. Any chance someone has helped themselves? This happened to my plum tree the other year

They should be well ready, mine are over.

Birds will strip them, if not netted.

Blame the birds - lost all my unripe gooseberries and blackcurrents to the birds in a couple of days. The strawbs and raspberries were untouched which I found odd, but it was definately birds. Mostly blackbirds, but aslo pigeons - which sat in the current bushes and broke off next year's fruiting stems.

Pigeon had half the unripe goosegogs on my bush this year. It`s the first time i`ve had to net  the bush.

Foxes eat them.  They will strip a bush
