A dear member of this forum gave me some blue poppy seeds earlier this year. I planted about half of them and I got a pretty good germination rate.
Young plants were duly planted out and grew and grew and grew, big tall and strong............ then the slugs started to come back. Very late this year, probably due to the cold winter?
So I was left with one plant which had three flower buds
. Bud number one got eaten before it could open
, bud number two opened and the petals got blown off before I could get out into the garden to take a picture
and I took this of bud number three having opened, before it had the same fate.
What a beautiful flower, if only the weather had given it a chance.
