Hello.  We are getting 3 chickens and an Eglu which should be delivered next month.  We were thinking that the chickens should have more space to move around and want to build a bigger run which will also enclose the Eglu.  As we are hopeless at diy, do any of you know where we can get plans/ideas from to point us in the right direction.   We think our cats will be ok with the chooks, but suspect that the Westie may take more convincing.

Hi you can buy separate panels to construct your own run. You just have to make sure that your run is fox proof. Wells Poultry Housing sell good quality panels you could try this site they are very helpful - i bought an automatic door opener from them and haven't looked back!!. Good luck with your new hens when they arrive

Thanks. Just checked the site, I will give them a call about it.  Chickens arrive next Tuesday, am getting as excited as a child before Christmas.

Just make sure your run if fox proof. An outer mesh skirt like the eglu run uses is a good method.  I'd advise against chicken wire (NOT FOX PROOF)use weld mesh and make it at least 6 ft high preferably higher unless you add a roof.
