cockerel with dried poo on his bum!
« on: July 14, 2010, 15:36 »
We have a cockerel with dried poo on his bum and the area where his tail feathers are is very red. The base of the feathers have 'white lumps' on them. The cockerel is about a year old. His is eating and drinking, still very noisy and interested in his ladies! what can we do we have tried soaking the lump.
Thanks for any help

sit him in a sink or bucket and massage some mild shampoo into it, it will eventually soften and come off,. leaving it there will leave him open to either blo fly infestation or his skin will burn from the acid in his pooh.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Our orpingtons have very fluffy bottoms and their poo sometimes gets stuck in it all.
We give them a warm bath with mild or baby shampoo and blowdry them afterwards (which they love a bit too much!).

The white lumps could be lice eggs, you usually find them here.  :(
You need to remove them if they are and give him a good louse powdering or frontline him.
