We dont have an allotment but we do have a small area in our garden that we have given over to grow veggies
This week we have pulled at least 10lb of spuds and they are scrummy
our first onion , spring onion and radish
Peas never make it to the pan as Debs and our daughter emily eat them like sweets one year ill get them on my plate !!!

I did not feed the area were we put the carrots this year but they have still split ??
and when should the cabbages start to get a heart they are huge but all leaf

we really are chuffed all the hard work is now paying off

Good for you - isn't it great!
Splitting carrots is usually due to irregular watering. Leafy cabbages - they should heart up perhaps in autumn, depending on the variety. Too much nitrogen can also produce large leaves and maybe a soft heart - see what others say on here.

Nice one smurf , you've got to get those peas in a steamer one year ,i've just cooked some ... wow they melt in your mouth , ive never tasted peas like own grown ones since i was a kid
