probably "just me", but I never liked stealing a leaf from the plant's power-house to cover the curd (although it does the job of course).

I've been growing Candid Charm for a couple of years now, and its leaves grow to a point so that the curd is not exposed to the light.  So nothing to do after planting, other than to water them now and again, until they are ready to eat

Bending one leaf in half hardly takes much away from the "powerhouse", which by the time the curd has formed has done most of its job in any case.
