wormories

does any one have a wormorie, I've been thinking about it for a bit and this is why.

I know this sounds a bit gross but here I go:
I have two dogs, thats a log of dog poo, worms can eat dog poo, I have 8 chickens, chickens love worms. so I get a wormorie give the worms the dog poo, they make good compost and breed, I put the compost on the garden (not the veg) I give the extra worms to the chickens, they lay eggs, I eat the eggs.

what do you think?

Yukk!!! :tongue2:  I think it could pose a health risk to your chooks.  Don't really know but it just sounds awful.  I will await with interest to hear what others say about it.

A wormery is not suitable for dog eggs , better off with a composter or digester.

sounds simple enough but am not sure if its ok with the dog poo, the neighbour's cats have been using my garden as a loo for years so I'm sure the worms my 3 eat at any opportunity have been eating cat poo at some time in their lives.

I did think about getting a wormory for the veggie waste from the kitchen but chickened! out at the thought of rearing worms and then feeding them straight to the girls in case its cruel (how soft am I?) as the ones in the ground at least have a fighting chance.  still dont know whats best but  i do let the girls feast when digging the garden, not much choice really as they are oblivious to the danger of sticking their necks in front of the spade!

go for whatever feels right I say ,    Turnip
